On Friday, June 10, 2022, Dr. John Craft presented a talk on "Phoenix Television" and signed copies of his co-authored book of the same name at the Beatitudes retirement community, in Phoenix. Board member Geri Rosato arranged for the presentation. The phrase "you learn something new every day" is especially true during a presentation by Dr. Craft. He showed a microphone once used at radio station KDKA, Pittsburgh (the first commercially licensed station in the country), as well as a "scanning disk" which was used to record and project television images mechanically, before electronic television was invented. Audience members were encouraged to ask questions and provide memories of their favorite television shows and stories of their family's first TV sets. The book "Phoenix television is available through Amazon.

Channel 33 Univision 40th Anniversary celebration and "Phoenix Television" book launch and signing.
Univision Arizona hosted a book launch event for “Phoenix Television” on Wednesday, April 24 at Univision’s beautiful building at 6006 S. 30th Street. About 130 people attended, enjoying the buffet made possible by Univision and ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Other event sponsors included House of Broadcasting, Inc.; the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences; and the Arizona Broadcasters Association. House of Broadcasting Inc’s Polly Schumacher and Lynda Gallagher sold out of the 72 books on hand. Guests mingled and asked authors John Craft and Lisa Honebrink to sign books from 6:30 to 7 p.m., when Alejandra Santamaria, President and General Manager of Univision Arizona, started the program. She explained that she and Univision staff felt that celebrating a book about the history of Phoenix television stations would be a perfect fit as part of Univision Arizona’s year-long 40th-anniversary celebration. After remarks by Craft and Honebrink, they continued to sign books until 9 p.m. All proceeds from that night’s book sales will fund HOBI’s annual scholarships for students at ASU’s Cronkite School.

The book is a nostalgic read for anyone who grew up watching local TV. Craft and McMahon answered many questions regarding the history of Phoenix Television - book signing followed.

On Friday, May 17, 2019, about 55 people attended a book signing at Changing Hands-Phoenix to celebrate the book Phoenix Television. Some audience members asked authors John Craft and Lisa Honebrink questions, while others shared their own stories of the early days of Phoenix television. Pat McMahon and Mary Jo West were called upon to share some of their broadcasting memories. Mary Jo also introduced Annie Montgomery, former Ch. 10 sports anchor. Changing Hands sold more than 30 books, which helps HOBI fund more scholarships for college journalism students! Rene Blain and her staff also sold books at the event. A packed house showed their enthusiasm for the early days of Phoenix broadcasting. On Saturday, June 30, 2018 Board Members Judy Schriener and Mary Morrison attended the autograph session at Changing Hands in Phoenix. Author, and former weatherman on Fox for many years, Dave Munsey has written an autobiography “Munsey Business”. There was a capacity crowd.

Saturday, November 9 HOBI hosted a book signing at its Museum location. Signing their respective books were Al McCoy, Jack Clifford, and Bill Thompson. These media legends not only signed books but shared a lot of interesting stories with visitors.

MEET AND GREET, OCTOBER 10, 2013: REMEMBERING BILL AUSTIN WITH BETH MCDONALD AND FRIENDS
The House of Broadcasting Radio and Television Museum presented HOBI’s Meet and Greet 2nd series “REMEMBERING BILL AUSTIN” with Beth McDonald and Friends and featuring Marty Manning of KESZ-FM. Bill Austin was one of the funniest and most likable people to have graced our airwaves. It’s been three years since he left us.A lively crowd of friends and fans attended the event. Beth McDonald told many of Bill antics … specifying that he admired the late Johnny Carson. A friend, since 12 years old in Roswell, N.M., flew in from Napa Valley to say a few words about his childhood friend Bill. A big hit of the evening was Austin, a Belgian Malinois handled by three policemen … Austin (the dog) was bought out of funds Bill Austin’s estate provided.

On February 11, 2010 Jan D'Atri with her Mother, Livia showed the HOBI guests how to whip up delicious bruschetta and pretzel hors d'oeuvres. She also autographed her lovely cookbooks “Rescued Recipes” Vol. 1" and “Momma & Me & You”. Jan also brought her line of utensils.You can hear Jan and her mother on "In The Kitchen" every Saturday on KFYI Radio from 3-5PM and on KPNX-TV, Ch. 12 as co-host and Lifestyle contributor on Arizona Midday-Monday through Fridays 1-2PM.

Voice of the Phoenix Suns, Al McCoy, signed his first book “The Real McCoy” at HOBI on October 30th, 2010, from 1-3 PM. A steady stream of book buyers attended with Al speaking to each person individually as well as answering questions in his usual casual “Shazam” manner. His wife Georgia attended the book signing session with Al.

Event Highlights by HOBI Board Member Maurie HelleIt was one of those Thursday evenings in Scottsdale that brings out the fashionable, the artistic, and those who enjoy some of the best that Arizona has to offer. January 22nd, 2009, a group of fans, communicators, authors, and media gathered at the House of Broadcasting Museum on 5th Avenue to attend a book signing by author, journalist, and speaker Jana Bommersbach. As they listened to the writer, who gave up frosty Fargo for the Valley of the Sun, discuss the research of her latest book, they gained a better understanding of the author’s efforts. Among those attending was valley television icon and author Bill Thompson, who hosted and master-minded the longest-running television show in history; “The Wallace and Ladmo Show.”
"DANGEROUS CURVES" BOOK SIGNING BY M.C. HELLE A SUCCESS
It was booked as the signing event of the season for the House of Broadcasting and that is what it turned out to be. Nearly 100 people came to the Museum on March 8th between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. for the signing of veteran broadcaster, Maurie Helle 's first novel."Dangerous Curves" is a murder mystery set in contemporary Arizona, and Helle signed over 50 books throughout the evening.
Attending were many friends including former colleagues: Tom Chauncey II, Bill Miller, Marlene Klotz-Collins, Lenore Grobstein, and Don Jerome. Numerous longtime friends of Maurie and his lovely wife, Wendy, were in attendance: Vic Figarelli, Ron Conner, Debbie Bell, Bijen and Chris Dyrek, Jim and Joan Fraser, Allen Bucknell, Joe and Michele Dearborn, Mark and Martha Heier, Dave and Deb Selzer, Mary and Chuck Artigue and Karen Dewall-Betker. Many of the board members of the House of Broadcasting attended, led, of course, by Mary and John Morrison.
Wine and sandwiches were served with first V.P. Michael Shaldjian acting as bartender and Dave Weiser serving as photographer.

HOUSE OF BROADCASTING HOSTS BOZE BELL BOOK SIGNING - FEBRUARY 2006
A book signing was held on February 2, 2006 at HOBI for former KSLX radio personality Bob Boze Bell. At the event, he signed copies of his new book, "Classic Gunfights, Vol II - Blaze Away!" The book, "Classic Gunfights, Vol II - Blaze Away!" is an in-depth look at the 25 gunfights leading up to the O.K. Corral fight. It is illustrated with 236 Boze Bell images. Boze Bell, who is a former radio morning personality for KSLX, was on hand to autograph copies of the book for attendees. The 128 page book has a cost of $29.95. HOBI is Arizona's premiere television and radio museum, dedicated to educating the public and to preserving and celebrating the history, personalities and paraphernalia of radio and television in Arizona. It is a 501 C-3 organization.

Bill Thompson (Wallace) book signing at the House of Broadcasting Museum
The House of Broadcasting Museum of Scottsdale, held a book signing reception for Bill Thompson, AKA, Wallace of Wallace and Ladmo, September 30, 2004. The book, "Thanks for Tuning In," is a biography of Wallace, written by Arizona Republic columnist Richard Ruelas. It chronicles Thompson's life and broadcast story and reveals behind the scenes details of his TV show. The book publisher is Dan Harkins of Harkins Theaters. The museum has a major display area dedicated to the Wallace and Ladmo show, the longest running children's television show in the United States. Wallace was on hand to personally autograph copies of the book for attendees. The 198 page book has a cost of $21.95.
BOOK SIGNING WITH VETERAN BROADCASTER HUGH DOWNS
Over 100 guests attended HOBI's wine and cheese reception and book signing for Hugh Downs on November 11, 2004, during BlueNight Artwalk and Scottsdale's Culture Fest. Attendees included Bill Thompson (Wallace), Ray Thompson, Robert & Louise McCall, Mark Scarf of the Tribune, Pam Stevenson of KAET, Tiffany Woodfull from KPHO, to name but a few. The event was covered by KNXV (ABC15), KSAZ (Fox10) and KTVK (3TV), and KTAR (David Liebowitz show). It also received mentions in the Arizona Republic, Scottsdale Republic, and Scottsdale Tribune. The museum is planning additional signings. Downs' 144-page hardcover book, "Letter to a Great Grandson," is a compilation of correspondence to his two-year-old grandson. It includes family history, Downs' personal experiences, and hopes for the boy's future. It is "A Message of Love, Advice, and Hopes for the Future." This is Downs' 11th book. It is published by Simon & Schuster Publishing of New York. Downs was on hand to personally autograph copies of the book for the nearly 100 attendees.
